When I first started my healing journey, and when I was doing my degree, I always thought that talking therapy was the only tool. Most therapies are entirely talking focused, meaning all based in the mind. I got to a certain point, where I understood where everything came from, why I was the way i was but i was still struggling to move forward. Why? Because trauma is stored in the body, the body keeps the score. It remembers what the mind forgets. The word healing comes from the old english word “haelen” meaning wholeness. I am a firm believer that in order to heal, you must work with the body too. And thats when I realised the magic of Yoga.
I recently completed my Yoga Teacher training. I first decided to do it, to deepen my own understanding of yoga and to help me with my healing journey. To support my journey as a facilitator, I didn’t originally plan to teach. As we journeyed through, I realised that it just felt right, and I knew I had to teach it!
Yoga is so much more than the physical practise, contrary to popular belief. Yoga means union, union of the mind, body and soul. It’s such a great tool, not only to feel good in that one Yoga session, but as a way of life.
